Sculpture Saint Michel Gotic

Saint Michel

The Archangel Michael - his name asks, "Who is like God?" -

is one of the few angelic figures mentioned by name in the canonical books. He appears as the mighty leader of the angelic army, of which the revelation of St. John reports. And the great dragon, the old serpent, the devil and Satan, is called down and seduces the whole world. The dragon was thrown to the earth, and with him his angels were thrown down. "(Rev 12,7)

Saint Michael is depicted standing as a great warrior in his armor.

Over his shoulder falls down to the knees reaching red overlay cloth. The right hand he holds upright in which he originally held a long messenger staff.

At the foot of Saint Michael lies the vanquished devil in the form of a dragon.
